Agriculture Committee

The Select Board established the Agricultural (Ag) Committee in 2006 to serve as a forum for matters of interest to farmers in Concord, and to advise the Board on how the Town can best support farming in Concord. The committee's five members include three Concord residents who are engaged in farming and two citizens at-large interested in promoting farming.

Happy 20th Anniversary to Ag Day!  Concord Ag Day is a once a year celebration of local agriculture organized by the Concord Agriculture Committee to showcase Concord farms and local produce. This unique market showcases the bounty of Concord’s many farm businesses at the height of the growing season. Please see www.concordagday.com for more information.

Spring Forum - Growing with Climate Change: A presentation by Erin Lane from the USDA Northeast Climate Hub

Climate change is affecting our local farms in many ways. Join the Concord Agriculture Committee in partnership with the Concord Free Public Library for a live virtual presentation on how the New England climate has shifted by Erin Lane, the Deputy Director of the USDA Northeast Climate Hub, followed by an in-person panel with Concord farmers discussing how they are adapting to the changing growing conditions. 

Speakers

Erin Lane is the Deputy Director of the USDA Northeast Climate Hub. The mission of the Climate Hub is to develop and deliver science-based, Northeast-specific information and technologies to agricultural and natural resource managers that enable climate-informed decision-making. Erin specializes in climate adaptation strategies, and wildland fire and climate change. She is also a co-founder of the North Atlantic Fire Science Exchange serving the fire community to advance the use of relevant fire science to harmonize fire management goals by bring people together and addressing challenges.
