[ARCHIVED] Details on January 20th Special Town Meeting

DETAILS ON THE SPECIAL TOWN MEETING TO BE HELD AT CONCORD-CARLISLE REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL ON JANUARY 20, 2022 AT 7:00 P.M.

A Special Town Meeting to consider an article to authorize a Concord Middle School Building Project will be held at Concord-Carlisle High School on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 7:00 pm.  The Concord Finance Committee has issued a report on the article including the recommendations of the Finance Committee and Select Board.  The Report may be accessed here: https://concordma.gov/2935/Special-Town-Meeting

The Moderator has announced that, consistent with the Order adopted by the Concord Board of Health on December 27, 2021 and effective on December 28, 2021, attendees at the Special Town Meeting will be required to wear masks covering nose and mouth to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.  The Board of Health Order may be accessed here: https://concordma.gov/2561/Coronavirus-2019-COVID19.  Those speaking to the assembly at a microphone will be permitted to remove their masks while speaking. As an additional precaution against COVID-19, the Meeting venue will include three areas of the building, the Gymnasium, Auditorium, and Cafeteria, allowing greater physical distancing among voters.

Childcare will be available at CCHS during Special Town Meeting.  Parents are expected to pre-screen their children for COVID symptoms and recent exposures.  Children over the age of two will be required to wear masks. Register for childcare HERE.

Approval of the Concord Middle School Building Project (the only article on the Special Town Meeting Warrant) requires both approval at Special Town Meeting by a 2/3 vote and approval of the debt exclusion in the subsequent Special Town Election by a majority vote.  The Special Town Election will be held on February 3.  The form for requesting an Absentee Ballot for the Special Town Election may be accessed here:  https://concordma.gov/DocumentCenter/View/33432/2022-AV-Application-Concord-Revised?bidId=.

Pursuant to state law, voters must be physically present at Special Town Meeting in order to vote at the Meeting.  It is not necessary to attend Special Town Meeting in order to vote in the Special Town Election.  However, voters are strongly encouraged to watch the Special Town Meeting proceedings before casting a vote on the Concord Middle School Building Project in the election.  Voters may watch the proceedings concurrently on Minuteman Media Network on local cable access channel 9 or livestream at https://concordma.gov/2335/Minuteman-Media-Network-MMN, listen concurrently on radio at WIQH 88.3 FM, or watch the recording of the proceedings accessed through the link that will be posted on the town website:  https://concordma.gov/2935/Special-Town-Meeting.
