The Nuclear Metals/Starmet Re-use Planning Committee (NSRC) has been working for the past year to assist the Town with identifying ways to reuse/repurpose the property at 2229 Main Street for maximum public benefit. Based on the initial outreach, the committee’s own deliberation, and feedback from the Concord Select Board, potential redevelopment in several reuse zones have been defined and a preliminary concept plan for the site was prepared. Reuse includes over 20 acres of open space and up to 23.7 acres for potential new development.
At this time, the Committee believes that redevelopment of reuse zone A-1 and conservation/open space designation of reuse zone C are best for those areas (see graphic below). The Committee remains neutral on the potential for reuse or redevelopment of other A zones (A2, A3 and A4) and is seeking community input on six key questions.

The public outreach document with questions is available on the Town’s NMI-Starmet webpage along with the final report prepared by Skeo, which goes into more detail about the specific process and work to date. The document will be sent to Town boards and committees for their input and the community is also invited to respond to the six questions listed in the outreach document. Please send comments to NMIStarmetReuse@concordma.gov.
