[ARCHIVED] Fish Survey at White Pond

On Tuesday, September 24th, the State will be conducting electrofishing at White Pond to test fish in the pond for mercury, as requested by a member of the public. The DEP biologist leading the effort is Dan Davis. There are a variety of protocols put in place to ensure people and pets are not shocked as the team travels around the perimeter shocking the fish. The State keeps three each of five different species and return the rest to the pond. Electrofishing is chosen as the main sampling method because it has the lowest mortality rate (~97%+ survival).
