[ARCHIVED] Update on Parking Meter Installation Project

Beginning October 24th, the Town’s contractor for the Parking Meter Installation will begin coring/drilling holes in the sidewalks and installing the new meter posts. While efforts have been made to minimize construction impacts, parking restrictions will be necessary to safely conduct this work. We realize this may prove to be an inconvenience to some, and the Town appreciates your cooperation while this work is underway.

In order to stay on schedule, the contractor anticipates installing approximately 30 meter posts per day, which means that 60 parking spaces will be reserved for construction (no parking allowed) so that equipment can be safely moved and the work progress efficiently. Each post takes approximately a half hour to install. As soon as work is completed and equipment moved to the next location, the parking spaces will become available for cars to park. Additionally, every effort will be made to limit the “no parking” restriction to only one side of the street so that the available parking spaces will be provided equally along the length of the roadway. Work will begin at approximately 7:00 a.m. each day and end between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m.

This work will begin in West Concord (South side of Commonwealth Ave. on Monday and north side of Commonwealth Ave. on Tuesday), then proceed to the Thoreau Street/Depot area (Wednesday), then Concord Center (Thursday and Friday), weather permitting. This work is expected to be completed over the next couple of weeks.
Please note that this is a tentative schedule and may be subject to delays due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, but the work is expected to be completed over the next two weeks.

Additional information is available on the Town of Concord’s website at http://concordma.gov/parkingplan. Questions can be directed to Director Marcia Rasmussen at (978) 318 3290 or by email at mrasmussen@concordma.gov. We thank you for your patience.
