Concord Public Works and the Concord Cemetery Committee will be hosting a re-dedication ceremony for the Melvin Memorial on Sunday, June 16, 2019. Beginning at 2:00 PM, this historic event will be held adjacent to the memorial in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery and will celebrate the recent completion of the restoration of the Melvin Memorial, while honoring the distinguished legacies of the Melvin family, sculptor Daniel Chester French, and architect Henry Bacon. The extensive program includes several guest speakers, a soloist singing two songs, the playing of taps during the laying of the wreaths, and the Concord Independent Battery will offer several cannon salutes. The event is expected to conclude around 3:30 PM.
Sleepy Hollow Cemetery will be closed to all vehicles beginning at 12:30 PM, and will reopen at approximately 4:00 PM. For those attending the event, parking will be available in the lot behind Holy Family Parish, 12 Monument Square, Concord, MA 01742. Shuttle service will be available beginning at 1:15 PM.
