As recommended by the White Pond Watershed Management Plan, the Town will be undertaking restoration measures at Sachem’s Cove beginning Monday, May 6. Work will address severely eroded slopes and unsafe access, and will include replacement of dilapidated concrete steps, installation of new timber steps, and substantial plantings to stabilize steep slopes. All measures are intended to reduce sediment runoff into White Pond, improving water quality which can be impacted by excessive nutrient and sediment loading. During the restoration work, some trails will be closed to allow access for construction vehicles. The attached map and construction schedule show which trails are open and closed during construction, subject to change based on weather and material availability. Signage will also be posted on the trails. We anticipate that all trails will be open by mid-June and the restoration efforts will be completed by July 2. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as this important project is implemented. Funding for the slope restoration work was generously provided through the Community Preservation Act. Please contact the Natural Resources Division at 978-318-3285 with any questions. Thank you!
