[ARCHIVED] Parking Mgmt. Plan Implementation- Parking Meter Update

The first phase of the new smart meter installation began Monday 10/17 in Concord Center and in West Concord with subcontractor Rebcom Inc. beginning with the removal of the existing meters and posts. Meter removal in all three village areas will continue for the remainder of this week. While efforts have been made to minimize construction impacts, parking restrictions will be necessary at times to safely construct these improvements; we realize this may prove to be an inconvenience to some, and the Town appreciates your cooperation while these improvements are being made. The overall project is expected to be completed over the next four weeks.

Line painting of parking spaces on Main Street in front of Concord Academy will be completed on Tuesday/Wednesday of this week (weather permitting).

New meter poles and housing installations are planned to begin the week of 10/24 with an anticipated mid-November completion date for the new meter installations. These meters will allow payment by coin, credit card and phone. The fee to park remains the same at $1.00 per hour in West Concord and parts of Concord Center and $1.00 an hour for the high-demand area in Concord Center near Walden and Main Street.

Please note that on-street handicapped parking spaces will also be located/designated as part of the meter project. Additionally, parking sign installations will begin in early November.

Further public outreach is being coordinated by the Department of Planning and Land Management. Additional information is available on the Town of Concord’s website at http://concordma.gov/parkingplan.
