Keyes Road/Walden Street Parking Lot Construction Delayed
The original plan for the reconstruction and paving of the Keyes Road and Walden Street parking lots included a July/August 2017 construction time line with substantial completion prior to September 1, 2017. After extensive evaluation of this schedule, Concord Public Works has determined that considerable cost savings will be realized by delaying the timing for the reconstruction of the Keyes Road and Walden Street Parking Lots to the summer of 2018. The reason for this delay is related to the current bidding climate and short time line for project completion which would result in a significant premium being paid if the existing July/August 2017 schedule were maintained. As noted in prior communications, CPW is planning to perform portions of the work in 2018 during overnight hours to minimize disruption. Notifications will be provided prior to project start up in 2018.
Incidental work, including utilities, lighting, accessible ramps, equipment pads, etc. may occur between now and July 2018 however, paving and major aspects of this parking lot reconstruction will be deferred until 2018.
