On April 3, 2025, the Zoning Board of Appeals voted to grant approval of the Residences at Thoreau Comprehensive Permit and filed its decision with the Town Clerk on April 4, 2025. The rental project is for 237 units with 60 affordable units and 177 market rate units. Approval of this project will bring the total number of housing units countable on the Town’s Subsidized Housing Inventory (SHI) to 1,156, or 16.12% of the Town’s total year-round housing stock of 7,172 units. Although not all the 1,156 SHI countable units are affordable, this project brings the total number of deed restricted units to 517, or 7.21% of the total year-round housing stock. All 517 units will be deed restricted at some affordable level between 50% and 150% of AMI (Area Median Income).
