[ARCHIVED] Concord Broadband Maintenance – Wednesday, 10/19/2022 - 10/21/2022

On December 24, 2021, we became aware of a broadband outage due to fibers damaged by rodents on Laws Brook Road. On that day and the next, Concord’s fiber technicians performed emergency repairs to re-splice those fibers in use to restore service. These repairs, however, were intended to be temporary until we could fully cut out the damaged fiber and re-splice all fibers (of which there are 372).

We have obtained the help of a third-party contractor to augment our team’s response so that the fiber can be re-spliced as quickly as possibly considering the number of fibers involved. While this work may impact several areas throughout Concord, it will only affect the 55 customers who are downstream from the cabinet where the damage is.

The majority of the work has already been completed and took place in late September. We estimate 2-3 nights of remaining work, and this will take place on the evenings of Wednesday through Friday, October 19-21, 2022. The maintenance window for this work is 10 hours each night, but we expect that affected customers will experience a much shorter window of down-time during the middle of the night.

Please reach out via email (broadband@concordma.gov), to our helpdesk (978-318-3199) or internal customer service department (978-318-3101) should you have any questions about this work, but please keep in mind, that during splicing there is little that customer service or support can do to assist.
