On December 24, 2021, we became aware of a broadband outage due to fibers damaged by rodents on Laws Brook Road. On that day and the next, Concord’s fiber technicians performed emergency repairs to re-splice those fibers in use to restore service. These repairs, however, were intended to be temporary until we could fully cut out the damaged fiber and re-splice all fibers (of which there are 372).
We have obtained the help of a third-party contractor to augment our team’s response so that the fiber can be re-spliced as quickly as possibly considering the number of fibers involved. While this work may impact several areas throughout Concord, it will primarily affect the 55 customers who are downstream from the cabinet where the damage is.
The work will take place at night on the evenings of Tuesday, September 27 through Friday, September 30, 2022. The maintenance window for this work is 10 hours each night, but we expect that affected customers will experience a much shorter window of down-time during the middle of the night.
