[ARCHIVED] Personal Information and Kroll Security Monitoring Letter

Updated Information:

The Town of Concord remains dedicated to safeguarding your information and wants to assure people who have received this letter that it is legitimate. The Town wants to make you aware of the incident and provide you with guidance on steps you can take to help protect your information, should you feel it necessary to do so.

The Town of Concord underwent a routine replacement of a large amount of office equipment two years ago in 2019. Part of this process included disposing of hard drives used to store data related to Town business. These hard drives were delivered to Concord Public Works for disposal and were discovered missing just before the scheduled disposal.

Upon discovering the missing hard drives, the Concord Police Department immediately launched a criminal investigation.  The Town of Concord also engaged outside forensic experts and commenced an extensive review of existing systems to determine whose information could potentially be stored on the missing hard drives. Although this investigation was a time-consuming process, the Town believed it was necessary to ensure appropriate precautions and next steps were taken. Information collected during this process was used to create the list of notice recipients, which includes people from 16 states as well as Concord.

At this time, the Town of Concord is not aware of any actual or attempted misuse of personal information as a result of this incident.  Nevertheless, we are providing free identity monitoring services including single bureau credit monitoring, fraud consultation and identity theft restoration services for those impacted.  These services can be accessed by calling 855-651-2701 or visiting https://enroll.krollmonitoring.com with the "membership ID" provided on the second page of the letters.
