The Town Manager extends her gratitude to Mark Howell, Chair, Select Board for his leadership in making civility and constructive public discourse a clear priority. The Chair’s statement read at the October 20 Select Board meeting sets the essential standard for navigating disagreement and moving the community forward.
The recent incidents of anonymous and disparaging signage, which the Chair rightly condemned, are of serious concern to the Town. They are viewed as fundamentally counterproductive to effective governance and do not reflect the values of the community. Such acts detract from the substantive work that must be done.
“We urge all residents to embrace the Select Board’s call for dialog and constructive engagement,” stated Kerry Lafleur, Town Manager. “That is the only way we will make progress together.”
The Town Manager and staff are fully aligned with the Select Board’s goal of constructive change and are committed to supporting every effort to foster an environment where all residents feel safe, heard, and respected.
The recent incidents remain the subject of an ongoing investigation by the Concord Police Department.
