Statement on Racist Graffiti
A racist act of hate graffiti, the N-word, was discovered spray-painted on a picnic table in West Concord. This behavior is condemned in the strongest possible terms, and the community stands united against racism and bigotry.
The protocol for addressing such incidents is both clear and swift. The incident was reported to the Concord Police Department on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, and documented. The department is now conducting an investigation and has also reported the incident to the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, the Massachusetts State Police Hate Crimes Awareness and Response Teams (HART Unit), the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), and the Concord-Carlisle Human Rights Council. These partnerships are considered critical for a comprehensive response and for holding those responsible accountable. After being documented, the graffiti was promptly removed by Concord Public Works.
