Return your Census Form!
Voter Inactivation for Census Non-respondents is set for June 3, 2024
Census forms were mailed in January 2024, and they are still trickling in. Did you return yours?
If you find it, please return it right away! If you misplaced it or were away and did not receive it you may receive an inactivation letter because we haven’t heard from you.
Pursuant to Mass General Laws, Ch. 51, §4, the Board of Registrars is required to move registered voters who have not responded to the current year census to the list of inactive voters no later than the first Monday in June. Therefore, on June 3rd, the Town Clerk’s Office will inactivate registered voters who have not returned their 2024 census.
What happens next?
A letter is mailed to households of voters who have not returned their census forms explaining the inactivation and including a Resident Confirmation Form to allow us to either reinstate your status as an active voter or remove you (and voters who have signed the form) from Concord’s voter rolls.
If you are still living in Concord but don’t return the Resident Confirmation Form, you will remain on the inactive voter list until you:
- vote by mail,
- vote in person (show ID with address to verify continuous residency),
- sign a nomination paper or petition,
- or return your census form the following year.
