UPDATE 1/20/24: All of the decorative streetlamps have been removed from Concord Center after several were found on the ground. Concord Municipal Light Plant (CMLP) is working with the manufacturer to understand why they failed and what is the best path for replacement. To address low lighting conditions in the Center, CMLP replaced the decorative street lamps with ten non-decorative lamps they had in-stock. Our thanks and appreciation to the CMLP line crews and supervisors for addressing a potentially hazardous situation quickly and working to resolve it in frigid weather conditions.
1/19/24: Following the discovery of three decorative streetlamps on the ground in Concord Center and one dangling, Concord Municipal Light Plant (CMLP) has begun the process of removing decorative streetlights in and around downtown Concord, while the cause of the failure is determined. The removal is being conducted out of an abundance of caution. CMLP is working with the manufacturer representative to decide the next steps for the streetlights.
The Town and CMLP recognize that the downtown area will be less lit than usual and urge people to use caution when travelling downtown at night. Public safety is a top priority for CMLP and the Town of Concord, and your patience and understanding is appreciated.
