Wellness Lecture - Lyme Disease - In-person
Tuesday, April 18, 2023
Tuesday, April 18th at 1:00 PM Lyme disease is caused by a certain bacterium (borrelia burgdorferi) that can spread from the bite of an infected western black legged tick. An infected tick must be attached to a person and feed for at least 24 hours before it can transmit the bacteria that cause Lyme disease. With the nice warm spring weather, we are outside more, and therefore more prone to tick bites. Please join Geriatric Health Nurse, Valerie Boggia, on Tuesday, April 18th at 1:00 PM for a listen & learn about Lyme disease. Valerie will discuss what Lyme Disease is, the causes and risk factors, transmission, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and long-term complications. Valerie will also review how to prevent tick bites, and how to properly remove a tick. Please call the COA to sign up for this presentation.
