REUSIT
Who We Are
REUSIT is Concord's recycling committee. REUSIT, Incorporated is a nonprofit Concord organization incorporated in 1972. The major goals of REUSIT are to preserve and protect the environment by:
- Recycling waste materials
- Encouraging the wise conservation and use of natural resources
- Creating an environmental ethic
- Contribute to reduction and elimination of pollution
- Further the well-being of the community through education and citizen action
What We Do
REUSIT volunteers initiated Concord's recycling program in 1971 and managed it until 1989, when the town of Concord assumed this responsibility. The present activities of REUSIT include:
- Promote home composting
- Support environmental/recycling/waste reduction legislation and ballot initiatives
- Produce biweekly column, "The Recycling Bin," for The Concord Journal
- Plan and organize the highly successful semiannual SwapOff and DropOff Days in conjunction with Concord Public Works
- Group visits to local recycling facilities of many sorts
- Contribute to, and cooperate with, other organizations whose programs and activities are supportive of the goals of REUSIT
- Adult education workshops and public meetings on environmental concerns and waste management issues
We Welcome You to Join Us
In our early days, our education, advocacy, and public service activities were financed from the sale of newspaper and glass recycling. With the town assuming this responsibility, this income is no longer available, and REUSIT has become a broadly based membership organization. We now rely upon dues and contributions to support our programs. If you share our concerns and want to help make a difference, we welcome you to become a member. Annual dues, which are fully tax-deductible, are $10 (or more, if you like) and can be sent to:

All are welcome, including residents of other towns. Members are kept informed of new developments, programs, legislative action, and opportunities to participate in such activities as the semiannual SwapOff and DropOff each spring and fall in Concord. Meetings are held monthly and are open to all. Call the Membership Chair at the number below for dates and locations.
