West Concord Junction Cultural District Committee

Welcome!

WCJCDC Flyer

The West Concord Junction Cultural District was created by the Massachusetts Cultural Council in January, 2016. A cultural district is intended to heighten public awareness of the unique cultural features and resources of the district.  West Concord Junction is home to many artists, artisans, performance venues, historical points of interest, and other cultural resources.  One goal of creating the district is to boost visitation to the district and the thereby support local artists and cultural sites.

The West Concord Junction Cultural District Committee encourages the development of new resources and strives to sustain existing culture assets within the district through mutual support and collaboration.

Call for Art - Outside the Box

Would you like your signed artwork to be displayed on a painted traffic signal box in our business district?

24.02_West Concord Call for Art_Box 2The West Concord Junction Cultural District Committee is pleased to announce the launch of a public art project entitled Outside the Box that will add color and fun to our business district.

Area artists ages eighteen and older are invited to submit original designs that reflect the spirit of West Concord.  The Committee will choose designs by three different artists, each to paint one of three traffic light signal boxes within the district.  The boxes will be primed and ready to paint by June 1.  During the month of June, artists are asked to complete their designs within 14 days.

In addition to the honor of having their artwork on display for three years or more, each artist will receive a stipend of $700, which will include the cost of supplies.

An application can be found  at:

Outside the Box Application Packet

Applications must be received by March 25 at 4:00 PM.  Applicants will be notified of the Committees decision by April 2.  For more information, write to PublicArtCall@concordma.gov
