Program Background: The goal of the Town’s annual roads program is to recommend adequate investment in the Town’s 107 mile roadway network to ensure the network does not deteriorate to a point which would result in more costly periodic repairs. Utility improvement opportunities are also identified and implemented within the roads program when appropriate. This can include drainage replacements or enhancements, water main and sewer main replacements and/or private utility expansions from National Grid (gas main), Verizon (Broadband internet/cable), etc.
Project Overview: Alcott and Independence Roads is part of the 2018 Roads Program bid, which is valued at approximately $1,800,000. The project is scheduled to reconstruct existing roadways in the Alcott/Independence neighborhoods, as well as reconstruct Baker Avenue/Baker Avenue Extension and Dee Road. In addition to roadway improvements, these roads will have major water and drainage infrastructure improvements.
Scope of Work: The work scheduled for Baker Ave and Baker Ave Ext. includes replacement of the drainage infrastructure, the reclamation of the existing pavement, regrading, and installation of asphalt pavement; between Route 2 and Main Street. Other work will include pavement markings, signage replacement, loam and seeding and final cleanup.The work is scheduled to begin in Spring of 2019. Check the website for an updated schedule.
