Weatherization Rebate

If electricity, oil, propane, or wood is your primary source of heat, CMLP or the Town will rebate 50% of eligible weatherization costs, up to a maximum of $1,000. Eligible weatherization measures are:
  • Air sealing
  • Attic insulation
  • Blower door test
  • Duct or pipe insulation
  • Duct sealing
  • Floor, basement or crawlspace insulation
  • Insulated attic stairs or hatch cover
  • Insulated cover for whole house fan
  • Wall insulation
  • Weatherstripping

Step 1: Choose the Most Cost-Effective Weatherization Measures

If you are not sure which weatherization measures are needed in your home, or which measures would be the best investments, take advantage of the no-cost home energy audits offered by CMLP. Contact our energy audit provider, Energy New England, at 888-772-4242 to schedule your home energy audit.

Once the audit is complete, contact weatherization contractors to obtain bids for the work recommended by the auditor. CMLP is not able to recommend specific contractors. However, contractors that participate in the Mass Save Home Energy Services Program and serve National Grid customers may be available to serve your weatherization needs, even if you are not a National Grid customer. Mass Save's list of Participating Independent Installation Contractors can be helpful in obtaining multiple bids.  To find the list, you'll need to enter natural gas heat in the 'Find a Contractor' tool on their website.  This is not a requirement - you are free to hire any contractor you would like.
Once you have obtained bids, choose the contractor with whom you wish to work, and the weatherization measures that you wish to have them carry out. Homeowners who are installing weatherization measures themselves should be sure to save all receipts for materials associated with the installation. The value of self-labor is not eligible for rebate.

Step 2: Submit Your Rebate Application

Download and view the Rebate Application (XLS). Once the weatherization work is complete, forward copies of the paid invoices and/or receipts, along with the application form, to CMLP's rebate processor:

Note: On the application form, you have the option of requesting that CMLP send the rebate directly to your contractor, meaning lower out-of-pocket costs for you. If you choose this option, please sign and submit the Customer Acknowledgement of Satisfaction (PDF) form with your rebate application.

If you have any questions, please call us at 978-318-3149. CMLP is not responsible for any installations. For verification purposes, CMLP reserves the right to inspect the measures at any time up to one year after receiving the rebate application.
